Fishing and Fish Identification

Goal: Students will understand characteristics and traits of fish that help them survive, and help us as fishermen know where to look for fish. |

Objectives
- Students will obtain information about the physical characteristics of fish in order to classify and identify fish they catch (2.L.5A.1, 2.L.2.2).
- Students will obtain information about the physical characteristics of fish, as well as their lifestyle preferences in order to know where to cast and catch the fish in Lake York (4.L.5B.3, 4.L.1.4, 3-LS4-4).
- Students will analyze the abiotic factors of Lake York to understand why the fish population is active or inactive (5.L.4A.1).
- Students will define and gather information about the ectothermic nature of fish in order to understand why the fish in Lake York are active or inactive (6.L.4B.5).

- Students will explain and demonstrate decontamination of equipment to prevent micro organisms from spreading to different areas.
- Students will test for and explain the results of water characteristics and what that means for fishing.
